Using Cardkept

Cardkept is run by Gonçalo Gomes, a sole trader in the UK, trading as Cardkept (“we”, “us”). It helps you record the Pokémon cards you own and the ones you want. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

You need to be at least 13 to use Cardkept. If you’re under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use it.

You need an email address to create an account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account; you’re responsible for what happens under it. One account is for one person: please don’t share, sell or hand it on.

A tracker, not a marketplace

You can’t buy, sell or trade cards through Cardkept, and we never take payment for cards. A “Sell/Trade” mark on a card is a note for yourself: only the friends you accept see it, on your PRO Scans, unless you switch it off in Profile.

Prices are information, not advice

Prices come from third-party sources and show where each figure came from and when. They can be out of date, incomplete or wrong, and converted figures are approximate. They are not an offer, a valuation for insurance, or financial advice. Please don’t rely on them alone when buying or selling.

Your content

What you add (your cards, notes, stories and photos) stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it (for example, to make a card’s picture smaller or to read a card from a photo you choose to scan) and show it back to you, so the app can work, and to show the cards you share as a link to whoever has that link, and your PRO Scans, the details of those cards you let them see (their stories and story photos included), and your name, handle and profile picture to the friends you accept. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Please only upload photos you have the right to use, and nothing unlawful, offensive or hurtful to others. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Your handle must not pretend to be someone else or to be Cardkept, and we may ask you to change one that does.

Sharing a card

When you share a card as a link, anyone with the link can see that card’s page, even without the app, until you switch the link off. The page never shows who a card came from, but it does show your notes and story photos if you include the story, so please leave out anything personal about other people. Switching it off, or deleting the card or your account, stops the page showing the card straight away. A picture you share is made on your phone and goes only where you send it; once sent, it’s out of our hands.

Friends

You can add friends by their @handle. Once both of you agree, each of you can see the other’s PRO Scans, shown as the card each was saved on, with what the owner’s own copy screen shows: the card, its condition or grade, its market price, their Favorite and Sell or trade marks, its story (with its notes and photos), what they paid and where they keep it, and the other’s name, handle and profile picture. You can keep any of those details (except the market price) from friends, or stop sharing PRO Scans altogether, in Profile. Friends never see your email, your wishlists, your pack openings or a card without a PRO Scan. You can remove a friend or block someone at any time.

Please add people you know, and don’t use Friends to harass, spam or pretend to be someone else. What your friends see (your PRO Scans, the details and stories you share with them, your name, handle and picture) must follow “Your content” above. Handles and names with offensive words aren’t accepted.

Anyone can report a friend’s PRO Scan, profile picture, name or handle. We look at every report, normally within 24 hours, and may take a PRO Scan off friends’ pages or take an account out of Friends, straight away where that’s needed to protect others.

Fair use

Please use Cardkept for your own collection, and don’t: copy, scrape or collect the app’s data or the catalog in bulk; take apart or reverse-engineer the app; try to get into other people’s accounts or data; get around a limit, such as the number of ID scans each month; overload or disrupt the app or its servers; sell or rent access to it; or use it to harass anyone. We may limit or suspend an account that does.

Cardkept Pro

Cardkept Pro is an optional subscription that lifts the free limits. The price and billing period (monthly or yearly) are shown in the app before you buy, and are the App Store’s for your country. Pro belongs to your Cardkept account, so you need an account (not a guest one) to buy it.

You buy it from Apple, and Apple takes the payment: it is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. It renews automatically for the same period at the price then shown, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can change or cancel it any time in your Apple Account settings, under Subscriptions. We can’t cancel it or refund it for you; refunds are handled by Apple.

Deleting your Cardkept account doesn’t cancel your subscription. Cancel it first, or you’ll keep being charged.

Services that use our card-reading provider (ID scans and slab scans) are offered under fair use, not without limit, so one account can’t use up the service for everyone.

If Pro ends, you keep everything you added, and the 3D cards (PRO Scans) you saved stay viewable. Only new PRO Scans beyond the free allowance, new wishlists and pack openings past the free limits, and the other Pro features stop.

Cardkept belongs to us

The app, its design, its name and logo, PRO Scan and the rest of what we built belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use Cardkept for your own collection while you follow these terms. Card names, pictures and other Pokémon material belong to their owners (below).

Pokémon

Cardkept is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Creatures or Game Freak. Pokémon and card names and images belong to their owners.

Services we rely on

Cardkept uses other companies to work: Supabase stores your account and what you add, Ximilar reads cards from the photos you choose to scan, Cloudflare runs our website and the pages of cards you share and keeps a private backup copy of your photos, Resend sends our emails, RevenueCat checks Cardkept Pro purchases with Apple, and prices, exchange rates and card pictures come from third-party sources. They may sometimes be unavailable or change what they offer, so features that depend on them, like ID scan or prices, may be limited, changed or paused. Our Privacy Policy says what each one receives.

Reporting content

If something shown through Cardkept (a shared card’s page, say) uses your photo or other work without permission, or breaks these terms, email us at help@cardkept.app, or use Report this page on a shared card, or Report on a friend’s page. Tell us what it is, where it is and why, and we’ll look into it and remove what shouldn’t be there.

Changes

Cardkept is still being built, and features will be added, changed or taken away. We may update these terms too: when a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies, unless it has to happen sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you keep using Cardkept after that, the new terms apply.

Ending

You can stop using Cardkept and delete your account at any time, in Me → Profile → Delete account; everything in it is deleted straight away. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law stops us.

Our responsibility

We work to keep Cardkept running and your data safe, but the app is provided as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free.

As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses you couldn’t have expected when you started using Cardkept, for losses from decisions you made relying on its prices, or for problems caused by the services we rely on. Our total responsibility to you is limited to £100, or what you paid for Cardkept Pro in the 12 months before the problem if that is more.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer.

If you break these terms

If you break these terms and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you’re responsible for the costs that follow, as far as the law allows.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute goes to its courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the European Union, you can also bring a claim in your own country’s courts, and you keep the protections its consumer laws give you. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.

Questions about these terms, or anything else: email help@cardkept.app, or use Me → Contact us in the app.
